William F. Stone, Jr. (1929-2009)
 
William F. Stone, Jr. , was born in Oakland, California on September 11, 1929. Living in that area in his early years, he settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1956. He now resided in the California Coastal community of Pacific Grove. Stone, primarily a watercolor artist, is known for his California landscapes and coastal images painted in a unique, almost abstract, style. 
 
Stone studied at the University of California, Berkeley. He also studied at the School of Medical Illustration in Boston, Ma. Later he earned a Teaching Credential from San Jose State University.
 
Stone was an artist member of the prestigious Carmel Art Association since 1972, serving on their Board of Directors on several occasions. He served 5 terms as their President and was a recognized leader in the Monterey Peninsula art community. 
 
William F. Stone, Jr. paintings have been exhibited at the Carmel Art Association Gallery, the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art and at various Galleries in the Carmel / Monterey areas.
